Quilt Blocks Go Wild Book Review

Quilt Blocks Go Wild Book Review

To say that Eleanor Levie and Celebrity Quilters are a little twisted is simply stating the obvious. This bunch of creative quilters has come up with the idea of using traditional quilt blocks, but with a twist. A quote from the book cover “transform trad into rad, the past into a blast.”

There are 10 terrific projects in this Leisure Arts publication and everyone has a little warp on the traditional approach and the results are simply stunning. Just flipping through the project titles give you a hint that this book is very different and you’ll be exposing yourself to some extraordinary concepts that really work to make bright modern designs.

Some of the projects are titled: NINE PATCH Goes to Pot; BASKET Goes Bonkers ; LOG CABIN Split Level; HEARTS Askew and RAIL FENCE Derailed.

I get the sense that this publication is aimed at the new quilter, and one that is under 30 years of age. The designs are funky, the instructions and layout on the page are bright and busy and very typical of media targeted at the younger generation.

A clever addition is the “playbook” paragraphs with lots of hints and tips to make your creations a piece of cake.

This publication is ideal for the newby quilter and especially for the young at heart.
